Happy  Half  Birthday  Nik
A midyear Update on the Nifty and Noteworthy Nik.

Nik is awesome.  Seriously.  I can’t get enough of the kid!  He is a bright light in our lives and I thank Heavenly Father for him daily.  He never ceases to amaze me.  It seems like everyday he does or says something that surprises me and/or does something that leaves you speechless and amazed.
Its half way through the year for him and so I thought I would celebrate by catching up on what he’s been up to lately.
Ø Nik LOVES to tell stories.  He’s actually really good at it.  He has a great imagination and is very creative.  It’s too bad for most all of his characters though, as it almost always ends terribly for them.
Ø Anything that is spooky and scary, Nik loves.  I am not sure why he loves that stuff so much, but he thinks it’s awesome.  Ghosts, Goblins, Werewolves, vampires etc. It’s all great to him.  (Except for masks.  He hates those things.  With good reason too.  I hate them as well.)
Ø Nik loves super hero’s, especially spider man.  Recently he’s been introduced to transformers and thinks they are pretty cool.
Ø Nik took his first shower recently and thought it was awesome.  Its like your own personal splash pad at home!  Who wouldn’t like it?!
Ø Nik is such a cuddler, and we love that!  He is always asking to cuddle, and it melts my heart each time.  I always try to remember to say yes because I just know that some day he’s not going to want to cuddle with mom any more, so I better take every opportunity to do it now.
Ø He loves to make forts, build booby-traps, make potions, draw, play tag and hide and go seek, build Legos, and absolutely loves the park.
Ø He loves gems, rocks, treasure, gold, silver etc.  And if you ask him what he wants to be when he grows up he will tell you “a gemologist.”
Ø Nik is such a personable and friendly little boy.  He makes friends so easily no matter where he goes, and is good at making kids feel at ease.
Ø Can someone please explain to me how you get your foot stuck in the toilet while trying to go poop?  I have no idea, and I still can’t figure it out, but Nik somehow managed it.
Ø Nik is always saying the funniest things.  I have recently decided to try and document these “pearls”, I know one day we will all be so glad and have some good laughs.
Here are some recent quotes:
Ø “Mom?  Are goats smart and do they recycle?”
Ø “Mom!  My nipples look like small volcano’s!”
Ø Nik was taking a bath before church and I was in the other room dressing Ian when he yells to me, “Mom?  What are these balls by my pee-pee?”  I walked in and told him what they were.  He then says, “Well great, lets take them out now and get a good look at them.  I want to see what color they are.”
Ø Nik was telling us all about Lehi’s dream from the Book of Mormon, and referred to the mist of darkness as the “pist of darkness.”
Ø I had a couple of friends over to chat and Nik came running over with an old picture of Ryan and I.  He interrupted our talking and asked me, while pointing at my chest in the picture, “Mom, when I was a baby like Ian, was I in there?”
Ø I am not sure why, but Nik mistakes moles and freckles for nipples.  No matter how much I try to straighten it all out for him, he still manages to get it wrong.  The other day he announced at the store that he had lots of nipples and they felt funny.
Ø “Mom? Do you want to know why this is the best day of my life?  Because I get to watch Mario Brothers!”

Ø We were doing Nik’s hair for school and Nik said : “Whoa mom!  We’re done here.  I look good!”
