Let  it  snow!

It finally snowed here.  Nik was so excited!  We were all inspired, so we decided to take some fun pictures.

Nik was just goobered by Ian.

Apparently Nik does not like drool.

A  bit  of  October

October came and went in such a hurry, it’s hard to believe that it is over already.  (Is it just me or does everyone agree that time seems to have sped up in the last years?  It seems like time is going faster and faster.  Much faster than what it used to be.)  Here is an overview of some things that happened:
Ø To my great joy, Nik seems to be doing better in preschool.  He had a bit of a rough start, in that he didn’t like his teacher and wasn’t too keen on listening and obeying. Resulting in after school talks with the teacher.  We have really been working with Nik and doing a lot of praying about the whole thing.  I am so happy to say though, that Nik is liking school and excelling in it.  He has some good buddies in the class and his relationship with the teacher is good.

Ø Ryan had to give a talk at church and he did wonderful.  He talked about the law of consecration and used a lot of stories and examples from his Grandpa Matkin and Great Grandpa.
Ø For some reason, October was a hard month for me, in that I really missed my family.  All I wanted to do was to go be with them.  I think what helped me through it mostly, was knowing we were going to be flying home for Christmas to see them for a couple of weeks. (I’m so so excited!!)
Ø My birthday was good.  Although I hate to turn another year older, it was fun to celebrate with my cute little family.  Ryan and the boys were so sweet.
Ø Lately Niks favorite thing to play is pretend house.  He will play the role of dad most of the time and everyone else will be kids or his brother or sister or wife.  It’s pretty cute to listen to him and play along with him.

Ø The other day Nik came up to me out of the blue, and said: “Mom! Nomes are made of lemon seeds…., black ink, and I believe, rainbow stuffing.” Then there was about a 20 second pause after which he yelled, “And they’re coming to life!”  After which he ran around screaming. Okay son!

Ø Ryan took a business trip to St. Lewis for what seemed like a week.  We were so glad to see him when he came back!
Ø Nik loves to be a scientist.  He loves all the experiments.  Recently we have been talking to him about volcanoes and eruptions.  So before Ryan had to go to work in the morning one day, Nik and he decided to do a quick experiment making an eruption with baking soda and vinegar.  How fun right?  Well they did it and had fun, but later that day, while I was taking care of Ian, Nik decided he wanted to do an experiment of his own.  Unbeknownst to me, he used my glass of drinking water and put baking soda and vinegar in it.  So later when I came to the kitchen for a drink, I took a large gulp of water, only to start gagging, because it had been tampered with.  It was revolting!  I about threw up! I spit up in the sink and tried biting into an apple to rid myself of the awful taste.  And all through this, Nik was just quietly watching it all happen.  In the end Nik said, “Mom, I’m sorry.  I wont do that again.  I just wanted to see how gross it would be.  I guess we found out!”  He then smiled and walked away.

Ø Grandpa and Grandma Whitesides gave Nik a volcano set and we finally were able to do it. Nik was so excited and loved every minute of it.

Ø Both Grandmas and Grandpas sent Nik a Halloween package!  It was so much fun to open them and Nik loved all the fun things inside.  Thanks Grandmas and Grandpas!

Ø I found a great dresser at the thrift store awhile back and needed to fix the top 2 drawers.  Well we finally fixed it and I couldn’t be more happy with it! Thanks Dad for the help!  We seriously couldn’t have done it without you.
