Niklaus

Oh  how  we  enjoy  Niklaus

Niklaus is honestly so much fun.  He is always saying the funniest things and being so sweet.  Here are a few things he has done lately:

Ø One night, Ryan was saying family prayer.  We were all being as reverent as we could, even Nik was being quiet and still.  Half way through the prayer, Nik whispers loudly to Ryan, “I will do the rest Dad.”  Ryan whispered his approval and we waited for Nik to continue.  Nik promptly began by saying, “In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!”  He stopped, looked around and smiled.  I think Ryan was just shocked, as he just looked at Nik.  I tried really hard to hold my laughter in, but in the end I couldn’t.  It was just too funny.  Apperently Nik thought the prayer had gone on long enough and decided to take matters into his own hands.  What a cheeky boy.
Ø Most days since Halloween, Nik walks around pretending to be a vampire and trying to suck everyone’s blood.  It’s pretty funny.  He has a credible vampire hiss, and knows just the right places to bite people.  Sometimes, after much persuasion, he can convince me to play along with him and pretend to try and suck his blood.  One day he came up to me, crawled on my lap and asked if I would pretend with him.  I said sure and awaited what exactly we would be pretending.  He then described to me that I was supposed to pretend to try and kiss him, but at the last second I was to bite his neck and try to suck his blood.  What!  I am not too sure where he got this information, but it was funny.  Nik loves it, and whenever we play, squeals and laughter abound.
Ø Nik read a word all by himself the other day.  I was so shocked and proud.  Bam.  That was the word.  It may be simple, but I haven’t sat down with him and tried to put words together or anything.  I was so surprised and proud of him.  I shouldn’t be surprised, because he is so smart and I should have started a long time ago to read with him.  But I guess Nik and I will be spending a lot of time in the future teaching him how to read.
