Easter

Easter Came and went so quickly, I felt like we barely had time to do anything before it was over and finished.  I felt a little disappointed in the fact that we weren’t able to fully celebrate and prepare for the holiday this year (although our distraction or excuse this year was wonderful.  Who wouldn’t want a perfect little baby?!)

I had really wanted to start some great Easter traditions this year, and I wanted to help us all focus on the Savior and to especially use this holiday to help Nik really understand the true meaning of Easter.  But with Having Ian so close to the holiday, my big plans kind of got put on the back burner for next year.  Oh well, I suppose it will just make me especially prepared and ready for next Easter.
That being said, we really did celebrate Easter.  My mom was staying with us to help me with Ian and Nik while I recovered after coming home from the hospital.  She held Ian for me while we decorated fun colored eggs.  Nik and I had a blast doing it and we made a mess, and it was great!  (So, I tend to be a little crazy about keeping clean and keeping my kids clean as well, and I tend to freak out when Nik wants to do a messy activity.  I know, I know, this is not such a good thing. I feel terrible because it tends to keep him from really being a messy care free kid, so, in the spirit of self improvement and trying to be a better mom, I am really working on letting go and letting Nik just be a kid, even if it means letting him get disgustingly dirty and making me cringe.) I had Nik put on some old pajamas so he wouldn’t get his day clothes dirty (to which he was utterly confused).
Nik was really excited for the Easter Bunny to come to our house.  It was all he would talk about the day before and a couple of days after.  The morning of, Nik decided to rise even earlier than his usual 6:30 am, and dragged us out of bed (I am SO not a morning person!).  Ryan and Nik went egg hunting while I watched with the camera.  He was so happy, and it made it all worth the effort, especially the getting out of bed part.

The Easter Bunny must really love Nik, because he was super spoiled this year.  Nik walked away with a new shirt, light up sandals, outside chalk, bubbles, a coloring book, paint, and some good candy.  (Something tells me that the Easter Bunny won’t be quite so giving next year.  Cant let him think that he can expect being spoiled right?)
