Grandma  and  grandpa  whitesides  visit

Grandma and Grandpa Whitesides came out to visit us here in Chicago and we loved it!  We had so much fun while they were here.  We met them at a resort called Fox River Resort in Sheridan Illinois.  It was supper fun.

Nik and Grandma basically lived in the pools.  They played at the Water slide park, went mini golfing, where Nik decided it would be fun to jump into the waterfall in the middle of the little course. (Oops! At least he had fun.).

Grandma and Grandpa took Nik hiking to  Starvation Rock National Park one day.

Nik received his first Grandpa haircut.  Good job Grandpa!

After the resort, Grandma and Grandpa decided to spend a few days at our house.  We went for a fun walk in the park in downtown Naperville (we love that area!).  We came across a Native American Festival and decided it was meant to be, and went in and had hours of fun.  We loved seeing the Native Americans in their native wear and watch them dance.  Their music was really great.  Although Ian didn’t exactly love the music, I think it was a little too loud and a little too much drum action for him.

Nik had to visit absolutely every vendor there.  Once Ryan and Nik saw the special gems vendor they had to stop and stay for a while, as in what seemed like an hour.  Nik did well for himself and walked away with a quartz crystal ball.
Of course after seeing all those gems, Ryan had to get out all his collections of fossils and gems.  The boys spent hours going thru them all and enjoying themselves.

We were so excited that Grandma and Grandpa could be here for Niks primary program.  Of course we were late, Ahh!, but thankfully the kids didn’t go up till after the sacrament and announcements, so he got to go up with all the other kids.  He did so great!  When it was his turn to get up and talk he said, “My daddy plays with me and it makes me feel happy.”  Ryan of course loved that. Nik beamed up on stage when he knew the songs and could sing along.  He knew a couple of the songs, but some he didn’t know, so I guess we need to work on the songs a bit more at home.
When it came to say goodbye, it was super hard for us all, but hopefully we get to see them again soon.
We love you Grandma and Grandpa!
